The valuation regulation (WertV) regulates general principles for the determination of market values in Germany with real estates. The WertV regulates thereby the interpretation of the market value definition in "§ 194 BauGB. The panels of experts must use the WertV obligatorily.

At present valid version of the WertV was issued on 6 December 1988. For the distinction of earlier versions of the WertV one speaks therefore also of the WertV 88.

In the WertV regulated valuation procedure one calls procedures also standardized:

• Reference value procedure after "§ 13 to 14 WertV
• Productive value procedure after "§ 15 to 20 WertV
• Asset value method after "§ 21 to 25 WertV.

In addition of the valuation regulation valuation guidelines were issued.
