The building use regulation (BauNVO) determines the kind, the measure, the building method and the coverable property surface in Germany. The building use regulation is a statutory order issued due to "§ 9a of the building law book. The original building use regulation had stepped on 1 August 1962 into force.

The building use regulation applies in principle to areas, for which a development plan exists. After "§ 34 exp. 2 BauGB are "§"§ the 1 - 15 BauNVO also applicably to unbeplante internal areas.

With open building method the buildings with border distance are to be established. With the closed building method the buildings without lateral border distance are established.

In the development plan can be determined building lines, land development depths and building borders - "§ 23 BauNVO -. With restrictive appointments is possible the cultivating barness of properties only within a "“building window"”.
